The Byrd Family
We are Bruce and JoAnne and have been married 30+ years, were full time parents, worked in newspapers and printshops, built houses, taught pre-k and have always had art projects in the works. 11 years ago our children grew up and left home and we decided to put our energies into creating stuff we had never had the time or resources to do while raising children. With God’s blessing and a lot of guidance, we decided to use some of the skills learned in art classes, did a lot of exploring on the internet and have been making unique windchimes, home décor and yard art since. Once we got started creating fun and cool stuff, the rest of the family; Hannah Gallups, Mike and his wife Sondra and JoAnne’s mom, Nina Jo got involved helping us. Son, Reuben, although not crafty, loves to go to the shows to sell. Now, they are all an integral part of the business, bringing new and fresh ideas and helping hands to produce our products. We use recycled bottles, glass plates, silver and bronze tableware, dishes, metal objects, wood shapes, ceramic pieces we make, registered college logo license plates, plates, etc., old windows and doors, tin, wire and beads and old jewelry and more to create one of a kind objects of art. Our products include: windchimes, adorned old windows and doors, ceiling fan and light pulls, glass crosses, light catchers, wine and liquor bottle garden lights, flower pot necklaces, cheese trays, butter dishes, spoon rests; personalized, scripture and happy sayings on signs with or without chimes and whatever we think of next. We sell mainly at outdoor art shows in the spring and fall. That is where we look and sound the best. We have also been invited to sell in shops and galleries and will have an array of items in Bruce’s sister’s new shop,
GiGi’s Cottage and Garden, Hwy. 90 and Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive, Milton, FL.. Bruce is working on his own line of yard art that will incorporate cypress and cedar woods, old tin and wire to make not only wood furniture but funky garden bugs, signs, wood crosses, angels and such. His line will be called Yardenart, and we (JoAnne, Sondra and Nina Jo) will be adorning what he will let us with our glass and beads. Mike has graduated from welding courses and has already made awesome lamps, figures, bugs, fish, and welcome mats. Plus...we have stolen some of his fish and hung chimes from them! He also has made us some shapes to incorporate into our chimes that sound and look wonderful! We are a work in progress...check back with us often to see what new things we have made!
